Cornwall has produced a number of famous football players throughout the years. Notably, there is Nigel Martyn, or “Big Nige” who was born and raised in St. Austell, Cornwall. He played for premier league teams Leeds, Everton, and Crystal Palace from 1987 to 2006. He was the first goalkeeper to be signed for £1million, and he was also England International .
There is also Matthew Etherington from Truro, a winger who played for Tottenham, West Ham and Stoke. Mike Trebilcock a winger from the village of Gunnislake was the first black player to score in a FA Cup final during Everton’s 1966 FA Cup.
Last but not least is Chris Morris, the only Cornish footballer to play at a World Cup since 1990. Morris played at Euro 1988 as a Celtic, playing in a game that led to a famous 1-0 win against England. He now currently helps the FA train other Cornish coaches.

Parents can be assured of their children’s safety and well-being. As the club is a member of the FA Charter Standard.
An FA Charter certification proves that our club provides strict guidelines on proper online communication and social networking, photography, as well as community involvement, behaviour, playing time and coaching approach. This is to ensure easy, efficient, and accessible communication that is also safe, private, and accountable.
It also proves that we adhere to helpful guidelines for parents and coaches alike on the proper approach and attitude during games and training. This pertains to teaching style, gameplay, as well as proper cheering that is conducive and healthy to the development of children’s sportsmanship and morale.
The goal is to create a playing environment that promotes respect, good sportsmanship, fairness, teamwork, support, and most of all, fun. This approach is meant to lessen the emphasis on purely winning.
This community and egalitarian approach is designed to help give young footballers the best shot at someday going professional.
